28 Mar Designer Spotlight: Double Standard Clothing

The Apparel Market at Dallas Market Center is one of my favorite things to attend in Dallas. The main reason is because I get to discover new designers that I can share with you all. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they are “new”, but they are new to me. Hopefully you all enjoy seeing their pieces and learning a little bit of their stories. I started doing this with AMS Atelier and want to continue doing designer spotlights at least once a month. This month, I bring you Double Standard Clothing: designed by Masahisa Takino.

“inspired by the elegance of when travel and glamour co-existed…..”

I met Deborah Farmanian of View33 Showroom at market and enjoyed her enthusiasm and passion for this line. She explained the background and textures of the Double Standard Clothing line.

“The opulent design of the Double Standard 2018 Fall/Winter line sparks the revival of a bygone era where lush aesthetics and classic elegance were the nuance of the day – coalesced with urban chic, this collection epitomizes the timeless luxury and glamour of the past and the contemporary sensibility of the modern woman.” This collection combines both Italian and Japanese fabrics with Japanese production.

One of the first pieces that stood out to me was this trench with a gorgeous star print (perfect for any Texas subscribers here 😉 ). The price point of this collection is a bit higher than most of the items I post, but I still wanted to include it because of the gorgeous details. Plus, many of us enjoy splurging on occasion for special pieces, and each one from this line is just that.

This feathered skirt grabbed my attention with its vibrant colors and unique detail. Deborah explained to me the process of pulling the fabric in a way to create the feathering and it creates the perfect texture to have a stand out piece with any outfit. I love how it’s paired with a tailored blazer in the first photo of this post or how it’s hanging with a detailed denim jacket for a more casual look below.

Sequins and Velvet create the perfect combination in my book, and these two pieces together do not disappoint. I was extremely impressed by the feel and rich color of the black velvet details on the jacket and pants. Little details really show the time and love that truly goes into each piece. The jacket features stitching along the lapel of the jacket to ensure it folds properly.

My personal favorite piece from the Double Standard Clothing collection is this beautiful and colorful Italian tweed coat below. It is perfectly belted with pockets and has amazing stitching details that include any color you can imagine. This is my chosen piece to splurge on because although it is a statement piece, it’s a classic style that will never go away and can be worn for years to come.

Below are some of the other beautiful pieces from the Double Standard collection.
